AC Black Flag Resynced Best Ship Upgrades : Jackdaw Guide & Priority Order
Every Jackdaw upgrade ranked by priority. Cargo hold first, hull second, cannons third. How to farm resources, unlock Elite plans, and dominate naval combat.
- •Upgrade order: Cargo Hold → Hull → Cannons → Mortars → Everything else. Board ships instead of sinking them for double resources.
- •Elite upgrade plans are at your Great Inagua hideout, not at shipwrights. Develop the hideout to unlock them.
- •Fire barrels are your best weapon against Legendary Ships. Shoot enemy barrels with swivel guns for massive damage.
Upgrade priority order
Do not spread resources. Focus them in this order:
1. Cargo hold
More storage per trip. Every ship you board gives resources. A bigger hold means fewer trips. This pays for itself within two expeditions.
2. Hull
You will ram ships. You will get shot. A reinforced hull keeps you alive through encounters that would sink a stock Jackdaw.
3. Cannons
More damage per broadside. Shorter fights. Less repair cost. Cannons also determine how fast you can disable a ship for boarding.
4. Mortars
Long-range engagement. Useful for softening targets before closing distance. Not essential for the early game.
5. Heavy shot and fire barrels
Late-game tools. Fire barrels are specifically useful against Legendary Ships.
Elite upgrades are at Great Inagua
Your hideout has an upgrade tree. Develop it. Elite plans for the Jackdaw are here, not at the shipwrights in towns. Invest in your hideout early and the Jackdaw upgrades unlock as you progress.
How to farm resources fast
Board ships instead of sinking them. Boarding gives double resources plus crew and repairs. Kenway's Fleet (unlocked after a story mission) generates passive income while you play. Send captured ships on trade routes and collect the money later.
Legendary Ship prep
Before attempting any Legendary Ship, ensure the Jackdaw has:
- Fully upgraded hull
- Elite cannons
- Elite mortars
- All three officers recruited (Tobias Smith adds an extra broadside volley)
