How to complete every Assassin Contract in Black Flag Resynced. Pigeon coop locations, contract types, naval vs. assassination contracts, and the best order to complete them.

Assassin ContractsSide MissionsMoneyRewards
TL;DR — What You'll Learn
  • Assassin Contracts unlock in batches as you complete story sequences. All 15 are available by Sequence 10.
  • Naval contracts are faster and pay better than assassination contracts. Do them first if you need money.
  • Pigeon coops are your contract hub; you accept and turn in contracts here. Each major town has one.
  • The final contract in each chain gives a unique weapon or outfit piece. Do not skip the chain finale.

Black Flag assassin contracts

Assassin Contracts are the main side-mission system in Black Flag Resynced. They come in two flavors: assassination contracts (find and kill a target on land) and naval contracts (sink or capture a specific ship at sea). Every contract pays Reales, and completing an entire chain unlocks a unique reward.

How to Access Contracts

Contracts are accepted from pigeon coops; wooden bird cages found at these locations:

| Town | Coop Location | |------|---------------| | Havana | Cathedral square, north side | | Nassau | Behind the tavern | | Kingston | Harbor master's office roof | | Great Inagua | Your mansion balcony | | Cayman Sound | Small shack near the dock | | Tortuga | Upper town, near the viewpoint |

Approach any coop and interact with it. The contract menu shows available contracts, their requirements, and the reward. Accept a contract to add it to your active quest log. You can hold multiple contracts at once.

Contract Types

Assassination Contracts (8 total)

You are given a target's name and a general location. You must use Eagle Vision to identify the target (they glow gold), then kill them. Most targets are in restricted areas with guards.

Standard approach (works for 90% of assassination contracts):

  1. Go to the marked location.
  2. Climb the tallest building overlooking the area.
  3. Use Eagle Vision to tag all guards and locate the target (gold glow).
  4. Wait for the target to pass beneath a rooftop edge or walk alone near cover.
  5. Air assassinate or corner-strangle. Do not engage in open combat; these targets have high health and call reinforcements.

Pacifist bonus: Some contracts have a secondary objective to kill only the target. Completing these without killing any guards gives a 50% bonus reward. Bring sleep darts for the guards near the target; they incapacitate without counting as kills.

You must find and destroy a specific enemy ship. The ship spawns in a marked zone on the ocean map and sails a fixed patrol route.

Standard approach (works for all naval contracts):

  1. Sail to the marked zone.
  2. Use the spyglass to identify the target ship (it has a unique name and a gold marker).
  3. If the target is a frigate or smaller: broadside → disable → board.
  4. If the target is a Man O' War: chain shot → mortars → heavy shot → board at 20%.
  5. Boarding always gives more rewards than sinking.

Escort complication: 3 of the 7 naval contracts have escort ships. Kill the escorts first; they are aggressive and will flank you while you focus on the target.

Contract Chains and Rewards

Contracts unlock in batches tied to story progress. Here is every chain:

| Chain | Unlocks | Contracts | Final Reward | |-------|---------|:---------:|--------------| | Havana Chain | Sequence 4 | 3 | Officer's Pistol (higher accuracy) | | Nassau Chain | Sequence 5 | 3 | Pirate Scimitars (dual-wield swords) | | Kingston Chain | Sequence 6 | 3 | Elite Fire Barrel capacity +5 | | Cayman Chain | Sequence 8 | 3 | Captain's Wheel (Jackdaw turns 15% faster) | | Tortuga Chain | Sequence 10 | 3 | Assassin's Gauntlets (silent kills are 30% faster) |

The Best Contract Order (Most Efficient)

If you want to clear all 15 contracts with minimum backtracking, follow this route:

Step 1 (after Sequence 5): Havana contracts (3 assassination). They are all in Havana itself; no sailing required.

Step 2 (after Sequence 6): Nassau contracts (3 naval). All three targets patrol the waters around Nassau. Accept all three at once, sink them in a single sailing trip, then return to the coop to turn in.

Step 3 (after Sequence 6): Kingston contracts (1 assassination + 2 naval). Do the assassination first (it is in Kingston), then sail for the two naval contracts east of Kingston. Accept all three at once for efficiency.

Step 4 (after Sequence 8): Cayman contracts (3 naval). These are the hardest naval contracts in the game; all three targets are Man O' Wars with frigate escorts. Do them only after upgrading the Jackdaw to at least Hull 3 and Broadside 3.

Step 5 (after Sequence 10): Tortuga contracts (2 assassination + 1 naval). The final contracts. The assassination targets here are the hardest in the game (each surrounded by 10+ guards in fortresses). Bring full sleep darts and smoke bombs.

Money Per Contract

| Contract Type | Base Reward | With Bonus | Per Hour (solo farming) | |---------------|:----------:|:----------:|:----------------------:| | Assassination (early) | 1,500R | 2,250R | ~10,000R | | Assassination (late) | 4,000R | 6,000R | ~15,000R | | Naval (early) | 2,000R | 3,000R | ~15,000R | | Naval (late) | 6,000R | 9,000R | ~25,000R |

Naval contracts pay more per hour not because their rewards are higher, but because they are faster; a naval contract takes 3-5 minutes from accept to completion, versus 8-12 minutes for an assassination contract (navigation, scouting, stealth setup).

Common Failures (and How to Avoid Them)

"I killed the target but the contract did not complete": You killed the wrong person. The target has a unique name and a gold Eagle Vision glow. Double-check before assassinating.

"The target ship is not spawning": Naval contract ships only spawn when the contract is active and you are in the marked zone. They do not exist otherwise. Make sure the contract is tracked in your quest log.

"I accepted 3 contracts but can only track 1": You can only track one contract at a time, but you can complete them in any order. If you stumble across a contract target while doing something else, the kill will still count; even if that contract is not currently tracked.

"The coop shows no contracts available": Advance the main story. Contracts unlock in batches tied to specific sequences. If you have completed all available contracts, the next batch appears after the next story sequence.
