Subnautica 2 Leviathan Locations Map — Where to Find (and Avoid) Every Giant Predator
Every Leviathan spawn location in Subnautica 2 mapped out. Collector, Great Jaw, Deepwing, Epicurean — exactly where they patrol, how to avoid them, and when you can safely pass.
- •Collector Leviathan patrols the Karakorum trench on a ~45-second loop — cross right after it passes
- •Great Jaw Leviathan sits in The Hole (100m+ crater) — hug the walls, never swim over the center
- •Deepwing Brooder guards Old Habitat center — approach from the edges and use buildings for cover

Every Leviathan Spawn, Mapped
| Leviathan | Threat | Biome | Depth | Patrol Type | |-----------|--------|-------|-------|------------| | Collector Leviathan | ⚠️ Extreme | Karakorum Trench | 100-200m | Fixed circular route (~45s loop) | | Collector Leviathan #2 | ⚠️ Extreme | Metal Farms | 300m+ | Wide patrol zone | | Great Jaw Leviathan | ⚠️ High | The Hole | 100m+ | Stationary ambush (center of crater) | | Deepwing Brooder | ⚠️ High | Old Habitat | 20-60m | Territorial (guards nest area) | | Epicurean | ⚠️ High | Power Plant, Metal Farms | 200m+ | Free-roaming predator |
Collector Leviathan, The Gatekeeper
Location: The trench between Coral Gardens and Karakorum (east of the Graveyard). A second one patrols Metal Farms at 300m+.
Patrol pattern: Circles the trench on a fixed ~45-second loop. Predictable. Exploitable.
How to cross the trench:
- Approach the trench entrance and stop.
- Watch the Collector for one full patrol cycle (~45 seconds).
- The moment it passes your position and begins moving away, go.
- Dash through at full Tadpole speed (Scout Ray Chassis helps).
- Do not stop in the middle of the trench. Do not turn around.
Equipment that helps:
- Cavitation Muffler (reduces detection range by roughly 30%)
- Scout Ray Chassis (faster than Haul Chassis)
- Impact Armor (reduces damage if caught)
What NOT to do: Freeze. The Collector is faster than your Tadpole. If it spots you, evasive vertical zigzagging is your only survival option. Straight-line running = death.
Great Jaw Leviathan, The Ambush Predator
Location: The Hole, a deep crater in Coral Gardens (100m+).
Behavior: Lies motionless at the center of the crater, jaws open. When you swim close, it snaps shut, trapping you inside. You take damage until you escape or die.
How to survive The Hole:
- Hug the walls. The Great Jaw waits in the exact center.
- If trapped: use Sonic Resonator (or Feedback Resonator) to stun it. This forces the jaws open.
- Swim out and ascend immediately.
- Don't go back to The Hole's center. There's nothing there worth dying for.
Is it worth visiting? Yes, The Hole has Lithium and rare fragments around its edges. stay on the perimeter.
Deepwing Brooder, Territorial Nest Guardian
Location: Old Habitat region (20-60m). Specifically, it guards a nesting area in the center of the ruined settlement.
Behavior: Fast, persistent, hard to shake if you enter its territory. It will chase you beyond its nest if provoked.
How to handle it:
- Avoid the center of Old Habitat unless you have a specific objective there.
- Use the ruined buildings as cover, the Deepwing can't fit through doorways.
- Dash (Biomod) helps create distance, but the Deepwing is faster. Use structures, not speed.
- If you need to scan something in its territory: have one player (in co-op) distract it while the other scans.
Epicurean, Deep Zone Hunter
Location: Karakorum Power Plant area and Metal Farms (200m+).
Behavior: Aggressive free-roaming predator. High damage. Found in late-game zones where oxygen, depth, and escape options are already limited, making it disproportionately dangerous.
How to handle it:
- Impact Armor on the Tadpole is mandatory for these zones.
- Keep the Tadpole between you and the Epicurean, it targets the vehicle first.
- Feedback Resonator stuns it longer than the basic Sonic Resonator.
- Repair your Tadpole after every Epicurean encounter. A damaged Tadpole at 300m is death.
Quick Reference
| Leviathan | Can You Outrun It? | Can You Stun It? | Can You Kill It? | |-----------|-------------------|-----------------|-----------------| | Collector | ❌ No (faster than Tadpole) | ⚠️ Briefly (Feedback Resonator) | ❌ No | | Great Jaw | N/A (stationary) | ✅ Yes (Sonic/Feedback forces jaw open) | ❌ No | | Deepwing | ❌ No (faster than Seaglide) | ⚠️ Briefly | ❌ No | | Epicurean | ⚠️ Maybe (with Scout Ray) | ✅ Yes (Feedback Resonator preferred) | ❌ No |
You cannot kill any Leviathan. Your tools are for evasion, stunning, and escape.
