Subnautica 2 Alien Facilities : How to Enter Every Ruin & Research Station
Alien ruins block your path with force fields and puzzles. Here is how to access every facility, what you find inside, and what tools you need to get in.
- •The Welcome Center is southeast of the Lifepod. Insert a Basic Battery to power the Biolab.
- •The Axum Observatory is your Karakorum hub. The Modification Station blueprint is here.
- •The Power Plant requires Axum Vision. Get the Angel Comb in the Power Plant area first.

Alien structures are scattered across the map. Some are easy to enter. Some require tools. Some block your story progression until you figure them out. Here is every one and how to get inside.
Welcome Center (Coral Gardens, ~100m SE)
Your first alien facility. Southeast of the Lifepod. Looks like a large ruined building.
Insert a Basic Battery into the power outlet on the wall. The Biolab activates. Research Biomods here. Get Dash and Sea Skimmer as your first two. This is mandatory for early progression.
Camp One (Jelly Barrens, northeast)
Not an alien facility but critical. Has the second Habitat Builder fragment. Scan it here. The Angel Comb for Digestion is nearby.
Sophie's Retreat (Coral Gardens)
Source of the Endurance Adaptation. Adds inventory and hotbar slots. Visit after you have basic equipment.
Nahema's Lab (Hydrothermal Vents)
Source of the Dexterity Adaptation. Inside the Vents. You need Heat Tolerance to reach it. The Sonic Resonator clears the path.
Axum Observatory (Karakorum, 140m)
Your hub in Karakorum. The Modification Station blueprint is here. Scan it immediately. Do not explore deeper without it.
Alien Ruins (Karakorum, 200m+)
Near the Power Plant. Requires a depth module on your Tadpole. Celestine and Conduit Crystal nodes surround it. The ruins themselves have research logs and story elements.
Power Plant (Karakorum, 200m+)
The final story objective in the current build. You need Axum Vision to access it. Get the Angel Comb in the Power Plant area first. Repair the plant to progress the story.
