Subnautica 2 Base Defense : How to Protect Your Base From Predators
Creatures will attack your base. Here is how to defend it, what to build, and which predators will destroy everything if you are not prepared.
- •Perimeter walls stop most predators. Place them 10-15 meters from your base. Do not build them flush against your modules.
- •The Cavitation Muffler on your Tadpole reduces predator detection range. Park a muffled Tadpole near your base.
- •Never build in Leviathan patrol zones. A Collector Leviathan will destroy your base. You cannot stop it.
Predators will attack your base. Some you can stop. Some you cannot. Here is what to build and where to never build.
What attacks your base
Most predators ignore your base. These do not:
- Marrowbreach. Medium threat. Will ram your walls if you build near their territory.
- Houndgar. Fast and aggressive. They attack in groups. Worse than Marrowbreach.
- Deepwing Brooder. Will attack if your base is near Old Habitat.
- Collector Leviathan. If you build in its patrol zone, your base is gone. You cannot stop this. Do not build there.
How to defend
Perimeter walls
Build a ring of foundation walls 10-15 meters from your base modules. Do not build them flush against your rooms. Predators need room to turn around. If they hit a wall and cannot path around it, they ram it. Give them space.
Titanium walls are enough for small predators. Use reinforced walls in Karakorum.
Cavitation Muffler
The Tadpole upgrade that reduces predator detection range. Park a muffled Tadpole near your base. Predators are less likely to find you.
Strategic placement
The best defense is location. Build in safe biomes. The Shallows and Coral Fields have almost zero predator activity. If you build in the Hydrothermal Vents, you will be attacked constantly. Move your base.
Where to never build
- The trench entrance to Karakorum. The Collector patrols here. Your base will not survive.
- The center of Old Habitat. The Deepwing Brooder lives here.
- Within 100 meters of a Leviathan spawn point. You cannot defend against Leviathans.
