Getting Started

Q: What should I do first? A: Craft the Survival Multitool and Scanner immediately. Then head northeast ~160m to find the Digestion Angel Comb so you can eat food safely.
Q: How do I get water? A: Pick up Water Slugs from the seabed and convert them into water at the Fabricator (1 Slug = 1 Water).
Q: Why do I keep getting sick from eating fish? A: You haven't unlocked the Digestion Adaptation. Find the Angel Comb northeast of your Lifepod (~160m).
Q: How do I unlock new blueprints? A: Scan objects in the world with the Scanner. Fragments, wreckage, flora, and fauna all unlock blueprints when scanned.
Progression
Q: How deep can you go in Subnautica 2? A: 450m with Depth Module Mk. 1. Deeper zones require Depth Module Mk. 2 (late-game).
Q: When do I get a vehicle? A: Mid-game. Scan 3 Tadpole fragments near the Lifepod, build a Moonpool on your base, then craft the Tadpole at the Vehicle Fabricator.
Q: How do I get into Karakorum? A: The trench east of the Graveyard. You need Heat Tolerance, the Tadpole, and the ability to dodge a Collector Leviathan that patrols the chasm.
Q: Is there an ending? A: The game is in Early Access. The current story ends at the Power Plant repair and Metal Farms exploration. More content is coming.
Resources
Q: Where is Gold? A: Only in Hydrothermal Vents / Hot Caves. There is no other source. You need Heat Tolerance to survive there.
Q: Where is Silver? A: Blighted Area and Old Habitat region (20-60m). Look for sandstone outcrops.
Q: Where is Lithium? A: Hydrothermal Vents and The Hole (50-150m).
Q: Where is Troilite? A: Metal Farms in Karakorum (300m+). The rarest resource in the game. Limited spawns.
Q: How do I get Creature Enamel? A: From Needlers in the Observatory region of Karakorum. Required for Enameled Glass.
Base Building
Q: What's the best power source? A: Solar for shallow bases (<50m). Thermal for hot biomes. Bioreactor as backup for any depth.
Q: Where should I build my first base? A: The Shallows (near Lifepod) or Coral/Anemone Fields (NW, 100-330m). Both are safe and resource-rich.
Q: How do I increase structural integrity? A: Add Reinforcements. Glass windows and hatches reduce integrity. Keep it above 0 or your base floods.
Gameplay
Q: Is Subnautica 2 multiplayer? A: Yes, up to 4-player co-op. You can explore, build, and survive together. Each player needs their own copy of the game.
Q: How do I save the game? A: The game autosaves periodically. You can also manually save from the pause menu.
Q: Can you kill Leviathans? A: No. Subnautica is intentionally not a combat game. You evade, stun (with Sonic Resonator), or avoid predators. You cannot kill them.
Q: Is the game finished? A: No. Subnautica 2 is in Early Access. The developers are actively adding biomes, story content, creatures, and has. Expect changes with each update.
