Subnautica 2 Early Game Loop: The First 2 Hours Optimized
Stop wandering. Here is the exact sequence of actions for your first 2 hours. What to craft, where to go, and what order saves the most time.
- •Craft Multitool → Scanner → Fins → Air Tank → Air Bladder. In that order. Do not deviate.
- •Swim NE 160m for Digestion Angel Comb. Then SE 100m for Welcome Center. Then build a base.
- •Do not explore deeper than 50m until you have the Air Tank. You will drown.
Minute 0-5: Craft the essentials
Craft these at the Lifepod Fabricator. In this order. Do not skip. Do not get distracted by fish.
- Survival Multitool: 3× Titanium. You cannot harvest anything without it.
- Scanner: 2× Titanium, 2× Quartz, 1× Basic Battery. Unlocks every blueprint.
- Basic Fins: 2× Rubber, 2× Fiber. Faster swimming saves oxygen on every dive.
- Standard Air Tank: 2× Titanium, 1× Rubber, 2× Silver. 75 oxygen. Mandatory.
- Air Bladder: 2× Titanium, 1× Rubber. Emergency oxygen. Saves lives.
Minute 5-30: Get the two critical unlocks
Swim northeast from your Lifepod about 160 meters. Find the glowing purple Angel Comb. Interact. Digestion unlocked. You can now eat fish without getting sick.
Then swim southeast about 100 meters to the Welcome Center. Insert a Basic Battery into the wall outlet. The Biolab activates. Research Dash and Sea Skimmer as your first Biomods.
Minute 30-120: Build a base
Scan Habitat Builder fragments at the Welcome Center and Camp One. Craft the Habitat Builder. Find a flat area near the Lifepod. Build: Room → Hatch → Solar Panel → Fabricator. Now you have a real base.
What NOT to do
- Explore deep caves before you have the Air Tank. You will drown.
- Eat fish before Digestion. You will get sick.
- Craft weapons. There are no weapons in Subnautica. Run from predators.
