Basic Mode, The Classic

What happens: Players split into Hiders and Seekers. Hiders get prep time to paint and hide. Seekers hunt. If at least one hider survives until time runs out, the Hider team wins.

Why it's the best starter mode: No escalating pressure, no role switching. You can focus entirely on learning one role per round.

Hider Strategy for Basic

  • Play conservatively. Your survival is all that matters. No need to take risks.
  • Don't move during hunt phase unless necessary.
  • The last hider alive gets maximum points, your team only needs one survivor.
  • Use the prep phase fully. Every second of painting improves your camouflage.

Seeker Strategy for Basic

  • You have a fixed amount of time. Clear zones systematically.
  • Prioritize speed, check noob traps quickly, then move to thorough scanning.
  • Team coordination matters. Split the map into sectors with your teammates.

Infection Mode, The Pressure Cooker

What happens: Starts like Basic, but when a hider is caught, they respawn as a seeker. The seeker team grows over time, and the hider team shrinks. Hiders win if anyone survives. Seekers win by catching everyone.

Why it's intense: By the end of the round, there might be 10+ seekers hunting 1-2 hiders. The pressure ramps up dramatically.

Hider Strategy for Infection

  • Early game is easiest. Lots of hiders = lots of targets for seekers. Stay still.
  • Late game is brutal. When you're one of the last 1-2 hiders, expect coordinated hunting.
  • Know when to reposition. Unlike Basic mode, sometimes moving to a new spot during the chaos of a capture is worth the risk.
  • Avoid popular hiding spots at all costs. Seekers check these first in every round.
  • If you hear a teammate get caught nearby, consider relocating, seekers will sweep your area next.

Seeker Strategy for Infection

  • Early game: Focus on catching the weakest hiders first. Each elimination adds a teammate.
  • Mid game: Coordinate with your growing team of seekers. Divide and conquer.
  • Late game: The last hiders are the best ones. Use the full arsenal of advanced seeker techniques.

Double Mode, The Ultimate Test

What happens: The match has two phases:

  1. Hiding phase: Everyone hides. ALL players are hiders with no seekers. You paint and hide as normal, but nobody is hunting yet.
  2. Hunting phase: Everyone becomes a seeker. You retain your memory of good hiding spots from phase 1, and now you hunt other players who were doing the same thing.

The twist: Your performance as a hider AND seeker both matter. The player with the most eliminations in the hunting phase wins.

Why it's competitive: This mode tests both skills equally. You need to be good at hiding AND seeking.

Strategy for Double Mode

  • Hiding phase: Hide well, but also observe. Watch where other players go during prep. You'll hunt them later.
  • Hunting phase: Start by checking the spots you saw other players heading toward in phase 1.
  • Don't pick the absolute best hiding spot. In Double mode, every player saw the same map during hiding phase. Popular spots will be checked first.
  • The meta is self-correcting. If you find a clever spot in phase 1, several seekers will check it in phase 2 because they thought of it too.
