Subnautica 2 Moonpool Guide: How to Build, Dock & Charge Your Tadpole
The Moonpool is where you park your Tadpole. Here is how to build it, what you need, and why it is the most important base module in the game.
- •Build the Moonpool before the Tadpole. You cannot charge the Tadpole without it.
- •Materials: 5× Titanium. Simple. The Vehicle Fabricator goes inside the Moonpool. Build that next.
- •The Tadpole Dock auto-charges and repairs. Build it next to the Moonpool for faster turnaround.

Build the Moonpool before the Tadpole
You cannot charge the Tadpole without a Moonpool. Building the Tadpole first means you have a dead vehicle sitting on the ocean floor. Build the Moonpool first. Then the Vehicle Fabricator inside it. Then the Tadpole.
Materials: 5× Titanium. That is it. The cheapest major base module.
Vehicle Fabricator
Build this inside the Moonpool. Materials: 2× Titanium Ingot, 1× Copper Ingot, 2× Glass. This is where you craft the Tadpole and swap chassis.
Tadpole Dock
Optional but recommended. 2× Titanium Ingot, 1× Silver Ingot, 2× Copper Wire. Place it next to the Moonpool. It auto-charges and repairs the Tadpole when docked. Faster than manual repair.
Placement tips
Build the Moonpool on the side of your base facing open water. The Tadpole needs a clear path to enter and exit. Do not build it facing a cliff or your other base modules.
