Palworld 1.0 Awakening Guide : How to Awaken Pals & Get Awakening Crystals

Awakening is the final power boost for your Pals. Here is how to unlock the system, farm Radiant Gems, craft Awakening Crystals, and which Pals to awaken first.

TL;DR — What You'll Learn
  • Awakening gives a 7-10% permanent stat boost. It does not change passives, IVs, or abilities.
  • You unlock it by defeating all Tower Bosses, capturing the giant whale, and crafting the Ancient Workbench at level 67.
  • Farm Radiant Gems from World Tree Pals of the matching element. Combine with 10 Holy Water for an Awakening Crystal.

Palworld awakening crystals

Awakening is the final layer of Pal progression. It comes after breeding, mutations, condensation, and souls. It gives a 7-10% stat boost and applies permanently. There is no undo.

How to unlock Awakening

This is not a system you stumble into. You need to complete a series of objectives:

  1. Defeat every Tower Boss across Palpagos, Feybreak, and Sunreach
  2. Complete the Panthalus questline and craft the Echoing Flute from 4 Echobones
  3. Capture the giant whale at Deserted Islet
  4. Disable the World Tree barrier
  5. Unlock the Ancient Workbench at level 67 (5 Tech Points, 10,000 workload)
  6. Materials for the workbench: 50 Soralite Ingot, 5 AI Core, 20 Bio Battery

Once the workbench is built, you can craft Awakening Crystals.

Crafting an Awakening Crystal

Each crystal is element-specific. You need:

  • 50 Radiant Gems of the matching element (drop from World Tree Pals of that element)
  • 10 World Tree Holy Water (drops from any Pal in the World Tree)

Craft the crystal at the Ancient Workbench. Open your inventory, select the crystal, and compatible Pals of the matching element will be highlighted. Confirm and the boost applies.

What Awakening actually does

The Pal gets:

  • A permanent 7-10% stat increase across all base stats
  • A golden glow in the overworld
  • A glowing level number in the party menu

What it does not do:

  • Change passives
  • Reroll IVs
  • Alter species
  • Unlock new active skills

It amplifies what is already there. Do not use it on a Pal you plan to replace.

Which Pals to awaken first

Combat Pals benefit more from raw stats than base workers. Awaken your fighters in this order:

  1. Your main combat team (the Pals you actually use in boss fights and raids)
  2. Raid-specific counters (Pals bred for specific endgame encounters)
  3. Elemental coverage (spread across types so you have options)

Do not awaken base workers unless you have spare crystals. The stat boost on a mining Pal is barely noticeable. The same boost on your Jetragon is a boss fight difference.

Full progression order

  1. Breed for species, passives, IVs
  2. Apply mutations
  3. Max Condensation
  4. Invest Souls
  5. Awaken

Awakening is step 5. Do not put a crystal on a Pal that still has bad passives.
