Connection & Lobby Issues

"Unable to Join Server"
Symptoms: You click join on a lobby and get kicked back to the menu with an error.
Fixes:
- Both you and the host must be on the same game version. Check Steam for updates.
- Verify game files: Steam Library → right-click Meccha Chameleon → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity.
- Check Windows Firewall, make sure Meccha Chameleon is allowed through.
- Restart Steam and the game.
"Server Not Appearing in Browser"
Symptoms: Your friend says their lobby is up, but you can't find it in search.
Fixes:
- Double-check the spelling of the server name. It's case-sensitive.
- Both players should be on the same region setting.
- Have the host recreate the lobby, sometimes servers fail to register.
- Try joining via Steam friends list (right-click friend → Join Game) instead of the in-game browser.
Friend Invites Not Received
Fix: Enable Steam Overlay, Steam → Settings → In-Game → check "Enable Steam Overlay while in-game."

Workshop & Custom Maps
Workshop Page Crashing / Not Loading
Symptoms: The Steam Workshop page for Meccha Chameleon shows an error or infinite loading.
Cause: Extremely high traffic, the game's popularity has overwhelmed the Workshop servers at times.
Fixes:
- Use the in-game Maps menu (bottom-left of main menu) instead of the Steam browser.
- If the in-game menu also doesn't work, try subscribing to maps via the Steam website (not the client).
- Wait and retry, Workshop load fluctuates with player count.
Custom Map Not Appearing in Lobby
- Restart the game after subscribing.
- Make sure all lobby members have the map subscribed.
- Maps appear in pink/purple in the map selector, scroll carefully.
- Unsubscribe and re-subscribe to force a re-download.
Gameplay Bugs
Eyedropper Picks Wrong Color
Symptoms: You sample a color from a surface, but the color it picks is different.
Cause: Reflections, lighting, and surface properties can trick the eyedropper.
Fix: After using the eyedropper, manually fine-tune the color using the HSV sliders in the paint menu. The eyedropper is a starting point, not the final answer.
"Can't Hide Here, Too Hidden" Message
Symptoms: The game forces you out of a spot with an error message.
Cause: Anti-exploit mechanic. Some spots are too enclosed or inside geometry, which the game considers cheating.
Fix: Move away from the offending surface. The message triggers when your character is fully inside an object or wall. Try hiding next to objects instead of inside them.
Character Appears Shiny Despite Matte Settings
Fix: This is a lighting engine issue, not your settings. Try:
- Adjust the Metallic slider to zero.
- Move to a spot with less direct lighting.
- Turn off shadows (V), this can reduce the "shiny" appearance.
Audio & Voice Chat
Can't Hear Teammates
- Check in-game audio settings, make sure voice chat volume isn't at zero.
- Check Windows sound mixer, ensure Meccha Chameleon isn't muted.
- Switch to Discord for reliable voice chat (recommended over in-game voice).
Microphone Picking Up Breathing During Hunt Phase
Fix: Enable Push-to-Talk in voice settings. Open mic while hiding is a common way to give away your position.
