GTA 6 Launch Preparation Guide : What to Do Before November 19
Four months until launch. Here is how to prepare: clear storage space, pre-load timing, day-one tips, and which console settings to adjust before you start.
- •Clear 200 GB now. Pre-load starts November 12. You need the space before that.
- •Bookmark questlog.site for launch-day walkthroughs and collectible maps.
- •If you are on PS5, adjust DualSense trigger sensitivity in system settings. GTA 6 uses adaptive triggers.

November 19 is 4 months away. That sounds like a lot of time. It is not. Here is what to do now, what to do in October, and what to do on November 12.
Right now: clear 200 GB
GTA 6 is expected to need 150-200 GB. That is roughly GTA V plus Red Dead Redemption 2 combined. Delete games you have not touched in 6 months. Move media to an external drive. On PS5, upgrade your internal SSD now while prices are normal and not inflated by launch-day demand.
October: finish your backlog
You will not play anything else for months after GTA 6 launches. Finish the games you are in the middle of. Wrap up loose ends. Make peace with your backlog. Come November, your console becomes a GTA machine.
November 12: pre-load
Pre-load starts one week before launch. Start the download immediately. On a 1 Gbps connection, 200 GB takes about 25 minutes. On a 50 Mbps connection, it takes 7-8 hours. If your internet is slow, start it at midnight on November 12 and let it run overnight.
November 18: adjust settings
Before you launch the game, adjust these:
PS5:
- DualSense trigger sensitivity in system settings. GTA 6 uses adaptive triggers. You want medium resistance, not maximum.
- Enable 3D audio with a headset. Rockstar confirmed positional audio for GTA 6.
Xbox Series X|S:
- Enable Dolby Atmos for headphones in audio settings.
- Check Quick Resume settings. You want it on for GTA 6.
Both platforms:
- Close all background apps. GTA 6 will push the hardware. Give it everything.
- Wired internet for the day-one patch. The patch will be large. Wi-Fi will make it larger.
November 19: launch day
Expect server issues. Every Rockstar launch has them. Story mode should work fine offline. Start there. Do not wait for online services to stabilize before playing.
Bookmark questlog.site. We will have walkthroughs, collectible maps, and cheat codes ready on day one.
