GTA 6 Heists & Crime Economy — How Making Money Will Work
How heists, fencing stolen goods, gang raids, and the crime economy will work in GTA 6. Based on confirmed features from Rockstar and patterns from GTA V and RDR2.
- •Raul Bautista is your heist connection — multi-stage planning, crew recruitment, high-payout jobs
- •Fencing stolen goods confirmed: deposit at garages, sell to fences — burglary missions may return
- •Gang compound raids are a new activity: assault hideouts, escape with contraband

How You'll Make Money in GTA 6
GTA V's economy was simple: do heists, get paid. GTA 6 is building a deeper crime economy with multiple income streams, fencing, raiding, restoring, and (of course) heisting. Here's everything confirmed.
Heists, The Big Scores
Raul Bautista, a veteran bank robber, is your heist connection. He recruits Jason and Lucia for multi-stage jobs involving:
- Planning and casing the target
- Recruiting a crew with specific skills
- Executing the heist (approach likely matters, stealth vs loud)
- Splitting the payout
If this follows GTA V's heist model (which was the best-received feature), expect 5-6 major heists across the story, each unlocking progressively. The Ultimate Edition's "gang-compound raid" is likely a bonus heist.
Fencing Stolen Goods, The Passive Income
This is new. Multiple sources confirm:
- Garages and safehouses have stolen goods storage
- You deposit items from thefts and robberies at these locations
- A fence buys them from you
This implies the return of burglary missions (last seen in GTA: San Andreas). Breaking into houses, stealing valuables, and selling them through a network of fences creates a passive crime income loop between major heists.
Gang Compound Raids, Combat-Focused Income
A confirmed activity type. You assault gang hideouts (PTT Youngin$ compound is named), eliminate hostiles, and extract with contraband. Think of these as smaller, more frequent, combat-focused versions of heists, perfect for making money between story missions.
Classic Car Restoration, The Legit Money
Collector Wyman's "Special Commission": find abandoned classic cars hidden across Leonida, restore them, and sell for profit. This is GTA's take on Forza Horizon's barn find system. A rare legitimate income source in a game about crime.
How This Compares to GTA V
| Income Source | GTA V | GTA VI | |--------------|-------|--------| | Story Heists | ✅ 5-6 major heists | ✅ Confirmed (Raul Bautista) | | Assassination Missions | ✅ Stock market manipulation | ❓ Unknown | | Property Income | ✅ Businesses generate passive income | ❓ Likely, not confirmed | | Fencing Stolen Goods | ❌ Not available | ✅ Confirmed (new) | | Gang Raids | ❌ Random events only | ✅ Structured missions (new) | | Car Restoration | ❌ Not available | ✅ Confirmed (new) |
What We Still Don't Know
- Will the stock market return (BAWSAQ/LCN)?
- Can you own and operate businesses like in GTA Online?
- Will properties generate passive income?
- Is there a drug trafficking system?
These will likely be answered closer to launch.
